    Randwick and Distirct Historical Society has an unique collection of historical material related to the City of Randwick built up over 50 years by dedicated groups of volunteers. It covers the subburbs of Randwick, Clovelly, Coogee, Kensington, Kingsford, Maroubra, Malabar, Matraville, and La Perouse.

    The Society's rooms have modern research facilities available for people researching Randwick's people and places. Volunteers are available to assist visitors with their enquiries.

    The Society is Open:
    Tuesdays: 1.30pm to 4.30pm
    Thursdays: 10.30am to 4.00pm
    Saturdays: 10.00am to 4.00pm

    Level 2, Bowen Library, 669 Anzac Parade, Maroubra NSW 2035 (Lift access only to Level 2)

    Research Fees:
    Research can be undertaken at $A20 per hour plus cost of certificates, photocopies and return airmail postage. Please send your research request and initial payment of $A20.00 plus SAE. Please include return mail address.

    Saturday History Talks:
    On the third Saturday afternoon of each month from February to November, the Society introduces a guest who gives a presentation on an interesting historical subject. Everyone is welcome. A gold coin donation for afternoon tea.

    The talk is held in the Vonnie Young Auditorium, Level One, Bowen Library, 669 Anzac Pde Maroubra 2035. Lift access is available. The next lecuture will be on August 21st 2010 at 2pm:

    Dr Jodi Frawley: The Introduction of the Prickly Pear Plant into Australia
    Dr Frawley is an environmental historian with resarch interests in transnationalism and history of science and technology as they relate to environmental change. She will discuss the introduction of the pricly pear plant into Australia, its devastating impact on agriculture in Eastern Australia in the early 20th century and the fight to eradicate it.

    History Week 2010: September 4th at 2pm - Level Three Auditorium at 669 Anzac Pde Maroubra.
    Faces in the Street: Many Faces of Macquarie Watchtower, La Perouse. Randwick & District Historical Society's project team which has been working the history of Macquarie Watchtower will present the results of their research followed by afternoon tea.
